I've teamed up with a company called Formulate to test out their newest products of custom shampoo and conditioner. I cannot wait to take you all along on my journey of having the softest, longest hair in all of the land... because after all who doesn't want to look just like Rapunzel? I know I do.
So what exactly is Formulate? It is a shampoo and conditioner that is custom made just for you! The formulas are sulfate free, paraben free, due free, preservative free, and cruelty free.
When visiting their website you are greeted with a quick survey: asking you about your hair and goals for your hair. (frizziness, color treated, etc.) When receiving your package of custom shampoo and conditioner you are also given a small pamphlet with directions and information pertaining to your formula in particular.
Pros:
because I was approached to work with the company I did receive these products for free. I was able to work with Sam at Formulate to create a formula that best suited my hair care needs. The first batch I found that my hair was very silky upon getting out of the shower. I was able to quickly comb through it which was game changing, since my hair normally requires quite a bit of detangling after every shower.
Upon drying my hair I did notice that my hair was VERY DRY. I have very light blonde hair and so it is already pretty dry. I expressed my concerns and was able to get another formula made based off of my feedback ( I used the first batch for about 2 and a half weeks) The second batch was much much better. It left my hair silky and shiny. I was able to curl my hair multiple times and never lost that sheen. I was very impressed with the formula and truly believe that this company is going to be a game changer.
Cons:
As you can see I have listed the prices above for the formula. Now I love taking care of my hair, don't get me wrong, but I am also trying to get the most bang for my buck if you know what I mean. I typically spend about $25-30 maximum for hair products (shampoo and conditioner) and that . typically when I am purchasing my purple shampoo and whatnot after a fresh coloring session. I love how they offer the travel starter set, if your questioning the whole customizable thing.
Besides the first formula being a little wonky I do not have any real cons for this product. It has made my hair shiny, and my hair dresser has even asked me if I have been taking vitamins due to the length of my hair growing in such a short period of time. ( I do not know if hat is related to my use of formulate) but I truly believe that it has made my hair healthier and stronger.
