Cafe D'Avignon Opens New Storefront in Orlando

Updated: May 5, 2020

If you've ever been to the Essex Street Market on the Lower East Side, or the recently opened Dekalb Market Hall in Brooklyn, you may have indulged in a coffee or pastry from Café D’Avignon. The NYC-based café has opened its first location in Florida at Sunset Walk, adjacent to Margaritaville Resort in Kissimmee, with other locations in the works.

I had the opportunity to visit their brand new location recently and was so surprised at the amazing quality and reasonable prices. Being from Massachusetts myself, and Chris from New York, this place was like a piece of home placed right in the middle of our neighborhood. During our visit, Chris and I were able to try a few food and beverage items from their menu.

Aesthetic: Upon entering Cafe D'Avignon we were immediately blown away by the gorgeous color pallet and clean lines in architecture. They have several tables located both inside and outside, as well as tall stools for sitting by the window-- a perfect spot for people watching. Needless to say, there are plenty of places to sit and enjoy a coffee or bakery item while enjoying all of the amazing natural light pouring in from the large windows. Honestly, I could see myself going to this cafe to work quite a bit just to sit and work on editing or writing some future blog posts.

Food: Cafe D'Avignon's menu consists of semi-sweet and savory pastries, breakfast and lunch sandwiches, quiches, scones, cakes and afternoon toasty snacks. In addition, they serve up classic espresso-based drinks using Stumptown Roasters and specialty lattes.

We had the pleasure of trying quite a few items off of their menu including: The Roasted Turkey Sandwich, Almond Croissant, Chocolate Hazelnut Croissant, Banana Bread, Olive Oil Chocolate Cake, and Baklava. For beverages we chose the Vanilla Latte and Cappuccino.

Verdict: This food was not only fresh, but so delicious as well. Each morning, a selection of breads and pastries are baked in their location, and believe me, you can taste the difference.

"We believe that offering extraordinary coffee and matching pastries under one roof is what sets us apart and makes us unique."

If you are looking for a gorgeous cafe with endless offerings, this one is for you. I highly recommend looking up Sunset walk and all of the specialty restaurants that have opened recently. You will not want to miss out!

Taryn's Favorite item: Personally I enjoyed the almond croissant. I was amazed with how the sweeter menu items left you feeling satisfied without the overwhelming feeling of eating too much sugar. You can truly taste the difference in their ingredient choices compared to other chain coffee shops like Starbucks.

Chris' Favorite item: "My favorite item had to have been the baklava because it was something I had never tried before. There was a candied lemon on top that added so much flavor. The atmosphere was also my favorite because it was filled with natural light. The calm atmosphere is somewhere I can see myself editing photos and hanging out."

Thank you so much to Cafe D'Avignon for hosting my husband and I. We cannot wait to come back and visit soon!

What do you look forward to trying on their menu in the future? Let me know in the comments below!
